Hello, Sorry the Presidents Message is late. It was my birthday this weekend and time got away from me. Presidents Message is as follows:

Hello, Chambersburg BPW members,

I hope everyone is keeping warm, and safe this winter. Our January meeting hosted a great speaker from Women In Need, and we started our "Emblem Pledge" In which members wear their pin or donate 25cents to the club. We hope that it will promote unity and awareness within the organization.

We have a lot of great things planned for our February meeting and hope that all can make it!

We've decided to give to the "Brown Bag" charity and hope that you can bring a non perishable food item to the meeting to help families in need. Wilma Fritz our membership chair will continue donating a portion of her Avon orders to BPW through the end of may to help with our scholarship fund. If you would like to order online please go to www.youravon.com/wfritz. We are currently planning a membership drive to coenside with our scholarship fundraiser in the beginning of may. We will be discussing, and voting on details at the February meeting.

I look forward to seeing you all very soon,

Jill Ann Yaich

Ladies,
Welcome 2014! We ended 2013 with fun holiday music and wonderful companionship. I hope 2014 brings much more of the same.  Next up our January meeting, and hopefully a couple more great speakers, new members, and new ideas.
January's speaker is Lisa Dougherty from our local Women in Need. I hope we learn more about the organization we have been donating to for the past couple of Christmases.
I am looking forward to a great planning meeting, and a lot of great ideas on how to get new members, and fund raise for our scholarship.
Don't forget to read and sign the permissions to have your image, and fill out the short bios for the website. It is important for us have a united, and clear web presence. The web is a great way for us to get our message out to business and professional women in the area, and for them to learn more about us.
I look forward to growing, and experiencing the future with all of you in 2014.

Ladies,
Hello, I hope everyone is enjoying the start of their holiday season. I hope that you all attend our December meeting were we will all be able to socialize, be merry, and enjoy a pianist from the Cumberland Valley School of Music. The newsletter also contains the information for our holiday charity please see a following page for details. Our charity this year is Women in Need. We will be donating toys for the children who are housed there over the holidays.
Our January speaker. Barbara Mistick has had to postpone her speech until our March Meeting. Luckily our March meeting was to be determined, and we will still be able to hear Dr. Mistick of Wilson College. I will be looking for a replacement speaker for our January meeting, and welcome any suggestions. February we will be learning about adult literacy from our very own Marie Steinbacher.
I look forward to seeing all of you at our December meeting, and hope that you all bring friends and colleagues so we can continue to grow as an organization.

Hello, Chambersburg, BPW:
Thank you everyone for your well wishes during my recovery. I'm up and at 'em and making plans for our Christmas Charity and entertainment for our December  10th meeting.

I hope everyone had a great time at our first speakers meeting with Ashten Parker from Franklin Family Services. You will be able to pick up cookie dough from our fall fundraiser on our November 12th meeting.

Please everyone remember to look at our facebook page,  and website for information, as well as the state website to keep up to date  with current topics in BPW.

I look forward to seeing  you all at our November meeting, and hopefully meeting new potential members as  well.

Hello, Everyone.

I hope you've been getting my email correspondence. Attached to the last
email was the order form for our Cookie Dough. A fundraiser for our
scholarship. It is due back to the club by the latest October 26th.
Dough will be able to be picked up Nov 12th at our meeting.

Looking forward to the District 7 meeting, and National Business Women's
week. Think too about a charity we would like to support at Christmas Time.
Last  year we supported Hefer International and WIN. Looking forward to some
good  ideas!

Lots to do this year to get new members in, and raise funds for our
scholarship.

Sept. 2013. Newly Appointed President Jill Yaich

Hello everyone,
I hope we all had a wonderful and relaxing summer. Our Picnic was held on August 13th. We had 6
members in attendance, and had a wonderful time catching up and playing the "white elephant" game that has become quite a tradition. I hope more members attend our September business meeting at Hoss's on September 10th.

We hope to have wonderful speakers this year talking about women in the military, mental health
issues in the community, and hopefully one or two local business women sharing what they do for our community.

As it states in our PA State Presidents theme, "We've come a long way, Baby" but we still have many
obstacles in our path.

Membership is key this year. We need to have more members to help chair committees, and spread
the  message about what BPW Chambersburg can do for our community. I hope that everyone comes to the table with ideas of how to reach out to our fellow business and professional women and work toward a sustainable future.

See you soon.
Jill Yaich

Happy May Day, Ladies!
It’s Pay Day Time.  Remember that state expects to receive their portion of our annual dues in May.  This is also a great time to recruit new members.  I have invited my daughters to join.  I think I have gotten one to commit.

It is hard to believe that another year of BPW work is drawing to a close.  But wait!  It isn’t over, yet!  We still have the May meeting and the state convention in June.

I would like to congratulate you on flag sales. You did very well selling them.  I would also like to thank you for being wonderful hostesses to other District 7 members at Bonanza for the spring meeting.

I am concerned that our scholarship fundraiser is not getting the support it needs to raise adequate funds to maintain even the current $500 award level.  I would like to thank Jill
and Norma for all their efforts to raise awareness and support for the violet sale and scholarship. Jill is also donating a number of African violets to sell to help the cause.
We appreciate that some of you have made direct donations to the scholarships cause. Everyone’s efforts are still needed. I am pledging a $25 donation this month, and challenge any member able to sell enough violets or donate to meet that challenge.
Supporting young students is one of our key projects.

I am excited to not only become your District Director for2013-14, but to have Jill Yaich, our incoming local President, as District Assistant Director!  Together we can make great things happen.   Our 2013-14 slate of local officers was approved by email majority vote
last week, as follows:
Jill Yaich, President; Bernice Crouse, First Vice-President, Norma Bigham, Second
Vice-President; Pam Bender-Brown, Recording Secretary, and Marie Steinbacher,
Treasurer.  The rest of the officers and committee chairs for the upcoming year have yet to be appointed.

Fall district meeting will be October 19, somewhere in Adams County, as decided at the spring meeting. Elizabethtown will host, but with their gracious idea, we have decided to hold all district meetings centrally for the immediate future to get maximum registration.  There was also discussion of adding a local business or cultural tour to the meeting.  I am excited to see what develops on this front.  The main district fundraiser will be held in spring next year, with the selection to be made at the fall meeting.

Don’t miss the May meeting. We will have a scholarship winner! The name remains a mystery until that evening.  May 14 will be our last dinner at the Historic Texas Lunch.
We will be moving in September.  The top selection was Hoss’s of Chambersburg, but the meetings have not yet been added to their schedule.  We will confirm the meeting location this summer, once the BPW reservations are made.

I rejoice in Jill’s election to the presidency.  Young leadership and ideas help move us ahead as an organization.  I would also like to thank Heather for all the great work she did for us as District Director.  I am learning just how much responsibility the position entails, and I will do my best to serve the members of District 7 in the coming year.

Greetings, Ladies
Spring will be here before we know it.  It is time to renew our thoughts and energies for fundraising, membership and projects.
We are delighted that we were able to reach our 2012 scholarship winner Natalie Jiminez and are able to release payment to her school.  We also awarded a nursing scholarship to Tia Timmons.   If we want to continue awarding scholarships, we need to work  together to make at least $500. on our upcoming violet sale. Volunteers are needed to staff a sales booth at the Chambersburg Mall on 3 days: April 20, 27, (Saturdays) and Friday May 10th. The Saturday shifts will be the easiest physically, since volunteers those days will be taking orders and talking to people about BPW.  Please contact Jill or Norma to sign up right away.
I would like to thank each member that helped make our fall fundraisers successful.  Leigh and Heather have been very generous with their support of local and district, respectively, this year.  Leigh has invited us to continue to place Tastefully Simple orders through her for additional profit to the local.
Despite the fall sucess our Finance Committee reviewed our mid-year status and determined that we will need an additional fundraiser to cover costs for the rest of the year.  Withour additional fundraising we will not have the money to cover state convention costs for our representatives.  It is critical that when we hold fundraisers that everyone be involved to the greatest extent possible.
At the February meeting, we encouraged Joyce to make final arrangements for our Civic Participation tour to be at Fulton Center for Sustainable Living.  We will be meeting there April at 5:45 pm.  You are invited to bring guests.  This is a great way to inspire potential members.
At our March meeting we have 3 important decisions to make:

        1. Do we meet at Hoss's or Bonanza next year? (please visit our website to take an opinion poll.
        2.  Would we prefer to take orders for lawn flags or hold a "Truely France" party in April to raise necessary profit to make it through the year?
        3.  Who will our 2013~2014 local officers be? **I overlooked selecting a nomination committee at our previous meeting and am working on the issue now.**
Bernice Crouse, President.

The January meeting was an informative and interesting program about the Sustainability at Wilson College. Fulton Farms has over 50 acre's farmstead that produces crops for our local community.  Many of our members were not aware this program existed and felt this would be a great idea for our tour in April.
As we move forward in 2013 we have many BPW activities on our agenda.  February we will review the buget and the Love, Live and Violets fundraising will begin soon.
Have you visited our web-site, and face book pages?  Thanks to Lisa Price for her work on these. Lisa needs our help and would love to hear from you providing information that can be placed on the web-site.  Give Lisa a call or email or bring information to our next meeting.

Teamwork Makes the Goal and one of our goals is membership, we need new members to grow our local, remember whem promoting BPW we are a network of women from all walks of life coming together for friendship, business contacts, personal growth and women helping women.

Looking forward to seeing you February 12th.
