Greetings, Ladies
Spring will be here before we know it. It is time to renew our thoughts and energies for fundraising, membership and projects.
We are delighted that we were able to reach our 2012 scholarship winner Natalie Jiminez and are able to release payment to her school. We also awarded a nursing scholarship to Tia Timmons. If we want to continue awarding scholarships, we need to work together to make at least $500. on our upcoming violet sale. Volunteers are needed to staff a sales booth at the Chambersburg Mall on 3 days: April 20, 27, (Saturdays) and Friday May 10th. The Saturday shifts will be the easiest physically, since volunteers those days will be taking orders and talking to people about BPW. Please contact Jill or Norma to sign up right away.
I would like to thank each member that helped make our fall fundraisers successful. Leigh and Heather have been very generous with their support of local and district, respectively, this year. Leigh has invited us to continue to place Tastefully Simple orders through her for additional profit to the local.
Despite the fall sucess our Finance Committee reviewed our mid-year status and determined that we will need an additional fundraiser to cover costs for the rest of the year. Withour additional fundraising we will not have the money to cover state convention costs for our representatives. It is critical that when we hold fundraisers that everyone be involved to the greatest extent possible.
At the February meeting, we encouraged Joyce to make final arrangements for our Civic Participation tour to be at Fulton Center for Sustainable Living. We will be meeting there April at 5:45 pm. You are invited to bring guests. This is a great way to inspire potential members.
At our March meeting we have 3 important decisions to make:
1. Do we meet at Hoss's or Bonanza next year? (please visit our website to take an opinion poll.
2. Would we prefer to take orders for lawn flags or hold a "Truely France" party in April to raise necessary profit to make it through the year?
3. Who will our 2013~2014 local officers be? **I overlooked selecting a nomination committee at our previous meeting and am working on the issue now.**
Bernice Crouse, President.
